Nervous Redhead

Last week you were introduced to what happens when Beth Ann gets nervous. She tends to putter and ramble.

This week you see just how nervous she can get.

The year is 1971 and Kaylob has always been an old fashioned guy. But at age fourteen he had made a promise to her brother to wait until she was at least twenty, or married.

Kaylob knew he should keep his word and he had wanted to wait until the wedding.

But with him leaving for a second tour he finally gets released from that old promise. Not to mention Beth Ann's tears as she begs him not to leave her again without experiences all the love. It has filled him with desire and the truth is, she's weeks away from twenty.  Also, there’s the fact that they are engaged and love each other deeply.

Everything changed the minute he got off the phone with her brother.. The electricity filled air. He kissed her and left her dazed. She watched as he dims the lights and puts on soft music. She’s realized this might just be the moment she's been waiting for. But as usual her nerves get the better of her.

She has no clue what to do or how to do it. But she did read a book.

What had the book said? Oil, it had talked about that, but she didn’t have any type of oil. Oh, wait. Kaylob had cooking oil—extra virgin like her. That should be perfect. She jumped up from the bed, dashed into the kitchen, and pulled out a bottle of the olive oil.
Kaylob followed and gave her a puzzled look. “Sweetheart, what are you doing?”
“Ah, well . . . I was getting some ice water. Did you turn up the heat?”

He threw his head back and laughed pointing to the bottle. “That’s not ice water, sweetheart.”

  10. In the 50's--yes. But by the time of the Viet-Nam war, she must have been pretty sheltered, but it's still quite possible. Especially if she misunderstood "lubricant" as "oil." (I'd just finished graduate school in '71, so I remember the period.)

    1. In the book Beth Ann and Kaylob come from a very small town, yes very sheltered. Not to mention Kaylob is very old fashioned. So although the book is in the 60s and 70s. These kids are like a throw back from the 50s. So you did good. You picked up on their old fashioned ways. :-) This period is very fresh in my mind also, hard to believe it's now called history. LOL Yikes!
